Woody plants in the Europa-Rosarium

The world's largest collection of roses is framed by about 300 different species of trees and shrubs, which make the Europa-Rosarium an important arboretum. From the time of its foundation until today, many nurseries and private individuals donated trees and shrubs. The variety of woody plants consists of native representatives as well as dendrologically valuable and rare specimens from all parts of the world. Subtropical and tropical plants have also recently enriched the botanical offer. They grow in sheltered areas of the Rosarium in summer and overwinter in the greenhouse and overwintering Japan (earth cellar). Before the park existed, a frame planting was placed around the site as a windbreak and privacy screen. From the remains of the existing woody belts one can still see that the park was created in sections in longer stages of time.

Many solitary trees have developed into magnificent specimens over the course of a hundred years and offer a magnificent sight in every season. Especially fascinating are the different growth forms, the budding, the foliage coloration in autumn as well as the blossoms and leaves of the woody plants.

The Europa-Rosarium has a directory of woody plants ready for you as a guide, with the help of which you can get to know the beauties and special features of our dendrological flora.
